Secondary Glazing Bristol
A project recently completed requiring Secondary Glazing in Bristol. Working with Aztech Building Services, MW Window Systems designed and specified high performing secondary glazing to best suit the Grade II listed building, with the intention of remaining discreet but providing effective noise and thermal insulation.
This was achieved by using Low E Coated glass which gives 1.8 w/m2k when installed around 80mm glass to glass. Secondary glazing also reduces noise by up to 80% (equivalent to 54db Rw) when using acoustic laminate and with a 200mm glass to glass cavity. This reduces low-frequency sound waves that are usually traffic related.
The design of the secondary glazing was a mixture of Vertical Sliders, Horizontal Sliders and Hinged Units, all of which matched the function and appearance of the existing windows. All units are openable for cleaning and maintenance purposes when required. More information on the project and further pictures can be seen on Oxford Architects website, the Architects we worked with for this project.
